As we expand in the National Capital Region, we are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to support federal programs and facilities projects.
Role Summary
The Electrical Engineer will provide technical expertise and project support across the full lifecycle of federal projects, including engineering and design in pre-construction, oversight of A/E contracts, and support of awarded construction projects. This role requires strong electrical engineering knowledge, project management capability, and the ability to collaborate with government clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Technical Support
- Provide engineering and design support for new construction, renovations, and facility upgrades, including MEP and mission-critical power systems.
- Conduct technical reviews of designs and construction documents from concept through 100% drawings.
- Prepare and review power load, illumination, short circuit, and voltage drop calculations.
- Develop basis of design reports, code evaluations, one-line diagrams, and specifications.
- Identify and resolve non-compliant conditions during site walks, surveys, and constructability/code compliance reviews.
Project Support & Management
- Support Government acquisition efforts for maintenance, repairs and construction projects by developing scopes of work, technical requirements, cost analyses, and schedules.
- Participate in risk analysis sessions, value engineering efforts, and pre-bid conferences.
- Track submittal reviews, maintain project data in Excel/web-based systems, and prepare metrics and briefings.
- Lead or support weekly and monthly progress meetings, assessing schedule risks and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Provide construction support including RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch lists, and progress reporting.
Collaboration & Communication
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and Government stakeholders to deliver fully integrated and compliant solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers/designers when appropriate.
- Prepare and deliver professional written and oral briefings, reports, and presentations for Government leadership.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship (per federal contract requirements).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (HSPD-12).
- ABET-accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
- 10+ years of professional electrical engineering experience (BS) or 8+ years (MS), OR 15+ years of relevant experience with a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Demonstrated experience with power generation, UPS, life safety, and mission-critical distribution systems.
- Experience supporting large-scale construction projects (≥250,000 SF).
- Proficiency with electrical codes and standards (NFPA, IEEE, IESNA, UL, OSHA).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in federal contracting or construction management environments.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM software, and Microsoft Office.
- Advanced knowledge of design in regulated environments (e.g., mission-critical or secure facilities).
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including leadership briefings.

Base Pay: From $115,000.00 per year
