Description: eDesign Dynamics (EDD) is seeking a full-time Junior Civil/Water Resources Engineer with 0-5 years of experience to join our small and innovative firm. Individuals with formal training in other related branches of engineering are also welcome to apply. The selected candidate will be based out of our New York, NY office and should live within commuting distance of our office. The position may involve engineering design, hydrologic/hydraulic/coastal/groundwater modeling, CAD drafting, field work, and data analysis in the fields of stormwater, wastewater, water supply, ecological restoration, coastal resilience, and related fields.
The ideal candidate will be technically savvy and capable of taking ownership of a project so that it is completed within strict deadlines and budgets. The successful applicant will be able to perform hydrologic and hydraulic computations and be capable of representing design concepts in AutoCAD. Familiarity and/or experience using hydrologic/hydraulic models such as InfoWorks, SWMM/PC-SWMM, and HEC-RAS and basic data analysis skills in platforms such as R or Python are a plus. Experience in GIS, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Rhino or other graphic design software is desired but not required. Applicants should be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented. Excellent analytical, verbal, and writing skills are a must. BS in engineering, with coursework in hydrology, hydraulics, open-channel flow is required. MS and/or consulting experience in the NYC area are a plus.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Required:
- Perform modeling, calculations, and analyses relating to watershed hydrology and urban stormwater volumes and flow rates
- Perform CAD drafting of plans and details – familiarity with the production of construction drawings required
- Develop technical memos and reports – clear, concise, and grammatically-correct writing skills are a must
- Understanding of sustainable urban design and green infrastructure principles, knowledge of ecological concepts within the local and regional context of New York City preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office required; knowledge of AutoCAD required
Preferred:
- Proficiency in ArcGIS, InfoWorks, PC-SWMM, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, R, Python, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Geotechnical field work experience
- Experience with installation, calibration, troubleshooting, of environmental monitoring equipment such as pressure transducers, soil moisture sensors, and hydrologic/hydraulic control structures such as flumes, wells, piezometers highly desired.
- Ability to develop marketing materials and create graphic renderings and diagrams

Salary Range: $72,000 – $88,000 per year
