MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS (Candidates without these cannot be considered):
BS in Mechanical Engineering or related technical engineering discipline
7–15+ years of experience leading capital projects in food, chemical, packaging, consumer goods, or a closely related industry
Strong CAD proficiency and hands-on experience with project design and planning
Proven experience coordinating large equipment installs and construction in food-grade environments
Demonstrated success managing contractors, budgets, and full project life cycles
Our client is seeking a Capital Project Engineer to lead major facility upgrades, automation initiatives, and long-term infrastructure improvements inside a fast-moving food manufacturing plant. This role is highly visible, hands-on, and central to shaping the future layout, systems, and operational capabilities of the site.

Lead capital improvement projects involving equipment upgrades, packaging lines, automation, refrigeration, and warehouse enhancements
Manage full project lifecycle: design, budgeting, procurement, contractor oversight, installation, and commissioning
Oversee construction activity and maintain tight control on timelines, safety, and project scope
Collaborate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Purchasing to align priorities
Own capital budgets and ensure strong cost control and documentation
Create CAD drawings, layout plans, and engineering documentation for new equipment and facility changes
Support design and implementation of systems for mixing, pumping, conveying, and filling across RTE lines
Identify long-term infrastructure needs to drive efficiency, capacity expansion, and food safety
Train plant personnel on new equipment and support preventative maintenance planning
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
7–15+ years of capital project engineering experience in food, chemical, packaging, or CPG manufacturing
Expertise with CAD and equipment/facility layout design
Experience managing large equipment installations and construction in food-grade or hygienic environments
Strong contractor management and budgeting skills
Effective communicator capable of influencing cross-functional teams
Working knowledge of FDA regulations, food safety, and plant safety standards
Salary: $160K–$175K + bonus
