The Project Engineer / Chemical Engineer is responsible for the development of PFDs, P&IDs, pumps/blowers, instruments, vessels and valves specifications. The engineer is expected to assist with plant startups. The Project Engineer, depending on prior experience, may initially work with a Senior engineer on a variety of projects, but with increasing experience will ultimately be expected to run both small and large projects independently.
Project size may vary in complexity and value, from replacement part orders to multi-million-dollar orders for new industrial process plants. The engineer will assist in all phases of a project from scope definition, establishment of budget, resource planning and scheduling, generation of designs and specifications, and oversee procurement and production of equipment. The engineer is to ensure that the design is operable, is economically viable for the customer and profitable for Chemithon, while safe to operate when complying with customer specifications and applicable codes. Depending on project type the job may require periods of time away from home.
This position may require 25 to 30% travel throughout the world, depending on project needs and locations.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
-Piping and Instruments Diagrams (P&ID) development.
-Material balances and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) calculations.
-Execution of projects; defining scope, establishing budgets, planning resources, scheduling work, generating designs and specifications, and overseeing procurement, production and shipment of work.
-Sizing and specifying pumps, blowers, vessels, heat exchangers, controls valves, instruments, and manual valves.
-Defining control system configuration – for example establishing process interlocks and generating process logic diagrams. May also be involved with process control programming depending on the needs and scope of the project.
Lead projects:
- Lead and assist with commissioning activities at customer sites.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, contractors, and internal clients; clearly communicating, coordinating and documenting project execution changes externally and internally.
- Maintain customer and contractor correspondence; document tracking that includes the supply, review, approval and modification of all documents.
- Manage all aspects of the contracts; comply with customer specifications and other applicable codes to fulfill contract requirements. Must be capable of adjusting equipment designs to fulfill requirements; change order management; identify necessary changes with their associated costs and schedule implications; quoting and procuring change order authorizations.
-Responsible for overseeing the generation of design documents; identify design needs; utilize in-house engineering skills to prepare material specifications, bills of material, detailed designs and outsource design and engineering when necessary.
-Manage all aspects of project budgeting, from initial estimates to final cost analysis.
-Maintain and support a safe work environment, including reporting unsafe conditions or workplace hazards, keeping work area clean, preventing injuries and illnesses, and adhering to Company Safety Manual.
-Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President of Engineering.
Pay: $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
