Nonwovens Process Engineer
We are seeking a Nonwovens Process Engineer to support, develop, and optimize nonwoven manufacturing processes. This role focuses on improving production reliability, product quality, and overall process performance using data‑driven engineering methods.
Responsibilities
- Support safe, stable, and efficient nonwoven manufacturing operations
- Optimize process parameters to improve product quality and throughput
- Assist with process development, trials, scale‑up, and method improvements
- Troubleshoot process and product issues using DOE, SPC, and root‑cause analysis
- Collect, analyze, and report process and quality data using statistical tools
- Support tension control, web handling, and performance of converting/finishing operations
- Maintain ISO 9001 process documentation and change control
- Work with R&D, Quality, Production, and customers to translate requirements into manufacturing processes
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in nonwoven technologies and processes
Requirements
- BS in Materials Science, Textile Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 1+ year of process engineering experience (nonwoven, fiber, textile, or related manufacturing preferred)
- Experience with DOE, SPC, and data‑driven problem solving
- Experience with data analysis tools (Minitab, JMP, Python, etc.)
- Knowledge of mass/heat balance, fluid flow, tension control, and web handling
- Familiarity with ISO 9001, documentation practices, and change control
- Ability to wear PPE and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, climb, crawl, and reach as needed
- Willingness to travel as required
Preferred Skills
- MS degree
- Specialization in nonwovens or textile science
- Hands‑on experience with nonwoven processes (needling, bonding, laminating, slitting, winding, coating)
- Experience supporting process development, scale‑up, and manufacturing troubleshooting
- Customer-facing experience related to product performance and technical requirements
