Job Summary:
The Landscape Design Support Staff provides essential assistance to the design team in developing and producing high-quality landscape plans, drawings, and presentations. This role supports day-to-day project operations, from concept development to construction documentation, ensuring that all design work is accurate, organized, and delivered on schedule.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist landscape architects and designers with the preparation of design concepts, site plans, planting plans, and construction documents.
- Draft technical drawings using AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software.
- Support project coordination by organizing site data, surveys, photos, and client documentation.
- Conduct site visits to collect measurements, photographs, and existing condition information.
- Research plants, materials, and sustainable design options for inclusion in design proposals.
- Prepare presentation boards, 3D visualizations, and renderings for client meetings.
- Assist with cost estimation, material takeoffs, and vendor coordination.
- Maintain file management systems and ensure all project documentation is current and properly archived.
- Collaborate closely with other team members to meet deadlines and maintain design quality standards.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform site visits and fieldwork (walking, measuring, photographing).
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs.
- Extended periods of computer-based work.
Work Environment:
This position operates in both office and outdoor environments, with occasional travel to project sites or client meetings.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs other related duties as requested or assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and Microsoft Office.
- Strong understanding of landscape design principles, planting design, and drafting techniques.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative design team.
- Strong communication and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of local plant materials and sustainable landscape practices is a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a landscape design, architecture, or construction support role preferred (entry-level applicants considered).
