- Our client, a leading national insurance company, has an immediate opening for an Underwriting Assistant (internally titled Underwriting Operations Assistant) to work on a hybrid basis in their Anaheim office. - As a member of the underwriting team, the Underwriting Assistant supports underwriting monitoring, guideline updates, external data services, and reinsurance operations. The position offers well-rounded exposure to essential underwriting functions in a collaborative environment and is well suited for candidates with strong numerical and analytical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Manage treaty reinsurance operations (data reporting, commission settlements, etc.)
- Prepare reinsurance renewal materials (risk profiles, renewal book, etc.)
- Evaluate external services for underwriting (e.g., natural catastrophe modeling firms, satellite imagery providers)
- Manage contracts and operations with external service providers.
- Utilize external data for loss ratio analysis.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience in underwriting.
- BS degree in insurance, risk management, or in a related field.
- Basic understanding of the insurance industry.
- Ability to present complex information in an understandable manner.
Compensation:
- Base salary to 29.00/hour
- Medical (PPO), dental (PPO), vision (PPO), and life insurance covered 100% by the company.
- 401k with 4% company match.
- 13 paid holidays plus PTO and sick leave.
- Monday – Friday / 8:30am – 5:30pm
- Hybrid schedule after 1 year.
