Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Business Financial Professional (BFP) to support government programs by independently driving purchase requisitions and funding actions from requirement intake through obligation. This role works closely with technical teams, government financial managers, and contracting organizations to ensure timely, compliant execution of funds.
This position requires someone who can operate with minimal supervision, manage multiple funding actions simultaneously, and bring requisitions to completion in a fast-paced government environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently process government purchase requisitions from initial requirement intake through obligation and award.
- Coordinate directly with technical teams to translate mission needs into complete, fundable acquisition packages.
- Work with Government Business Financial Managers (BFMs), Program Managers, Contracting Officers, and Contract Specialists to validate funding availability and ensure timely obligation.
- Create, update, and maintain spend plans in government financial management systems to support execution targets.
- Enter, modify, and track requisitions in government financial systems for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Prepare and process non-complex Military Interdepartmental Purchase Requests (MIPRs) and Economy Act Orders (EAOs).
- Track funding actions through approval, certification, obligation, and handoff to contracting or receiving organizations.
- Monitor execution against approved spend plans; identify and resolve funding shortfalls, excesses, or misalignments.
- Pull and analyze financial data and reports to support execution tracking and status reporting.
- Support Unliquidated Obligation (ULO) resolution and end-of-year closeout activities.
- Respond to government financial data calls related to execution status and funding actions.
- Manage multiple concurrent funding actions in time-sensitive environments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience processing purchase requisitions in a DoD or Intelligence Community environment.
- Direct experience coordinating with government BFMs and contracting organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive funding actions to completion.
- Experience working with technical teams to refine acquisition requirements.
- Experience using government financial management systems, such as:
- FACTS
- CMIS
- EDSS
- CDW
- Experience creating and maintaining spend plans aligned with government requirements.
- Experience preparing or processing MIPRs and EAOs.
- Working knowledge of federal acquisition and financial management policies.
- Ability to track funding actions across multiple programs or task orders.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify documentation or funding issues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for tracking, reconciliation, and reporting.
Why This Role Works
This role is best suited for someone who already understands how government funding actually moves—from requirement to obligation—and wants ownership of their work rather than oversight-heavy tasking.
