Responsibilities:
Water resources engineers prepare design of drainage, stormwater, erosion and sediment control projects; manage budgets; prepare proposals; and maintain design schedules. In addition, they ensure quality of work products, collaborate with clients, lead teams, and use advanced engineering methods and software to create designs for storm water management and flood mitigation while ensuring compliance with regulations. They also can complete key assignments independently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science is required, preferably in civil engineering.
- Project Engineer: 5–10 years' experience in roadway drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, hydraulics, hydrology, bridge scour, sediment transport, and one- or two-dimensional hydraulic modeling. Professional Engineer License required.
- Design Engineer: 2–5 years of experience in civil engineering design; Engineer-In-Training Certificate preferred.
- Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD is required. Experience with Open Site Design or AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
- Experience with GIS applications is preferred.
- Experience with MDOT business units and/or MDE is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
