Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Power / Power Systems Engineer to support the expansion of our manufacturing facility. This role will be responsible for evaluating current electrical infrastructure, determining future power requirements, and designing or specifying electrical systems and equipment needed to support increased production capacity. The engineer will work closely with operations, utilities, contractors, and equipment vendors to ensure safe, compliant, and scalable electrical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical load studies and power demand calculations for existing operations and planned facility expansion
- Analyze current electrical distribution systems and identify capacity gaps
- Determine required utility service size, transformers, switchgear, panels, feeders, and backup power systems (generators/UPS, if applicable)
- Develop power usage forecasts based on production equipment, machinery, and operating schedules
- Coordinate with local utility providers regarding service upgrades, interconnection requirements, and timelines
- Specify and recommend electrical equipment to meet current and future capacity needs
- Ensure all designs comply with NEC, local codes, and Texas regulations
- Review and approve electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical submittals
- Support capital planning by providing cost estimates and phasing options for electrical upgrades
- Collaborate with contractors, EPC firms, and internal stakeholders during installation and commissioning
- Troubleshoot power reliability, efficiency, and load-balancing issues as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
- 15+ years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or power systems engineering
- Strong experience with power distribution systems, load calculations, and capacity planning
- Familiarity with industrial equipment electrical requirements (motors, drives, production lines, HVAC, etc.)
- Experience working with utilities and industrial electrical contractors
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas (preferred or ability to obtain)
- Proficiency with electrical design and analysis tools (e.g., SKM, ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar)
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills

Pay: From $120,000.00 per year
