Production Underwriter
Location: Dayton, OH or New York, NY (in-office)

About the role
We’re hiring a detail-oriented, analytical, and business-minded underwriter to join our growing team. This role is ideal for candidates with early to mid-career underwriting experience who are excited to work in a fast-paced startup environment and want to help build scalable underwriting processes from the ground up. You’ll play a critical role in evaluating risk, pricing insurance programs, and partnering closely with sales, product, and operations teams to support the growth of Authentic’s custom insurance programs. This role reports to our COO.
What you’ll do
- Evaluate, underwrite, and price risks in line with underwriting guidelines and program objectives
- Review applications, loss histories, financials, and other underwriting data to assess risk exposure
- Develop and refine underwriting guidelines for new and existing insurance programs
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to support new program launches and renewals
- Monitor portfolio performance, loss ratios, and emerging risk trends
- Contribute to process improvement, automation, and documentation as the underwriting function scales
What we’re looking for
- 1 to 4+ years of underwriting experience
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail
- Ability to evaluate risk and make sound underwriting judgments in ambiguous situations
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

Base salary range: $80,000 - $150,000
