The Control Panel Design Engineer III is a senior-level engineering role responsible for leading the design and development of complex electrical control panels for industrial automation systems. This position requires deep technical expertise, project leadership, and mentoring of junior engineers. The engineer will ensure designs meet all regulatory standards, customer specifications, and internal quality benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of advanced electrical control panels using CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
- Oversee the creation of detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and BOMs.
- Ensure compliance with UL508A, NEC, IEC, and other applicable standards.
- Serve as a technical lead on multiple projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams.

- Review and approve designs created by junior engineers and provide mentorship.
- Collaborate with fabrication, commissioning, and field service teams to ensure successful implementation.
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes, tools, and standards.
- Interface with customers to understand requirements and provide technical guidance.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for design-related issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in control panel design and industrial automation.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar design platforms.
- Strong understanding of control system architecture, wiring practices, and industrial components.
- Proven experience with regulatory compliance and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ERP systems and integration of BOMs into procurement workflows.
- Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, motion control, and industrial networking.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and design-for-manufacturability principles.
- Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., food & beverage, pharmaceuticals, automotive).
Working Conditions:

- May require flexible hours during project deadlines or commissioning phases.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
