About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our steel manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing production processes, improving efficiency, and ensuring high-quality steel products while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, design, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve productivity, efficiency, and quality.
- Develop and implement process improvements to reduce costs, waste, and cycle times.
- Work closely with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve process issues.
- Monitor and analyze production data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct root cause analysis of process failures and implement corrective/preventive measures.
- Support the introduction of new technologies and automation to enhance production efficiency.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
- Develop and design steel components, structures, and products using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
- Modify existing designs to improve efficiency, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Assist in R&D projects for new product development
- Support trouble shooting of manufacturing challenges
- Optimize materials and processes for cost savings and increased productivity
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
- 2+ years of experience in process engineering within the steel or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of steel production processes (e.g., forming, welding, fiber lasers, machining)
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, or similar) and process simulation software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of metallurgical principles and material science.
- Experience with CAD software for process design and layout improvements.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
