We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer for our operations in Muskegon, MI. This role supports daily quality operations to ensure manufactured products consistently meet customer and internal standards. The position focuses on proactive quality planning, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance process performance, product reliability, and customer satisfaction. The individual promotes best practices, uses data-based decision making, and communicates quality performance and improvements to leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Support APQP activities for new program launches and engineering changes within a Tier 2 automotive environment
- Prepare, submit, and maintain customer PPAP documentation and related quality records
- Develop and maintain PFMEAs, control plans, process flows, and inspection requirements
- Lead internal, customer, and supplier corrective actions using 8D, 5 Why, and other automotive problem-solving methods
- Partner with Engineering and Production to improve manufacturing processes and ensure compliance to OEM and Tier 1 requirements
- Manage nonconforming material, MRB activities, and containment actions
- Support supplier quality activities, including audits, PPAP approvals, and corrective action follow-up
- Participate in IATF 16949, customer, and internal audits and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
- Background in statistical analysis, measurement systems, process capability, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
- Proficiency in standard Windows-based computer systems
- Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities
