Founded in 2018 by Ohad Seroya and Aviad Klin, Retrofête is a womenswear collection marked by its bold character, intricate detail, and sparkling embellishments. The New York-based label, which takes its name from a melding of synonyms for ‘vintage’ and ‘party’, channels disco-era after-hours through tastefully provocative, day-and-night silhouettes.
We are seeking a Fashion Design Assistant to join our Design team here in NYC.
Responsibilities:
- Assist design team in developing seasonal design concepts through research, draping, textile manipulation, and other exploratory creative techniques.
- Organize all seasonal colors, fabrics, prints and embroideries by category and track all approvals and changes.
- Maintain development status charts / track the status of all samples with a refined attention to detail
- Collaborate with designers to create technical flats and CADs for each collection
- Create and launch detailed tech packs, ensuring that all design elements and specifics of garment construction are clearly communicated and well articulated
- Communicate with overseas factories on a daily basis regarding new developments, tech packs and style updates
- Manage all design office upkeep, organization, etc. Maintain boards, line sheets and presentation slides to be shared across departments
- Attend fittings, take details notes and work with factories to ensure the design's intention is accurately realized and fit comments are clearly communicated
- Ensure all designs are market-ready and all necessary information is communicated to all teams
- Must have a strong ability to to multitask in a fast paced environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design
- 1-3 years experience working on design team (advanced contemporary / luxury experience is a plus)
- Team player with excellent communication skills with necessary follow through
- Self starter with the ability to function independently as well as in a team
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Proficient in Adobe photoshop and illustrator, Procreate, and Excel
- Proficient sewing, draping and sketching skills
- Strong time management and ability to multitask / thrive in a fast paced environment
- Strong understanding of construction and luxury finishings
- Willingness to learn and take direction, eager to grow within a creative and driven team
