Job Summary: Timberbuilt is seeking a talented Architectural Designer / Project Architect to join our collaborative design team. In this role, you’ll guide clients through the design of their custom timber frame homes — from concept sketches to detailed construction drawings.
You’ll create floor plans, renderings, and technical documentation while ensuring each project aligns with our high standards for craftsmanship, energy efficiency, and aesthetic detail. Experience producing construction drawings is required.
This position offers a dynamic workspace, a casual office environment, paid vacation, and a simple IRA retirement plan. We offer the opportunity to grow into a senior design or project management position as part of our close-knit team. Note, this is not a remote work position.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with our design staff to produce architectural drawings, including plans, sections, elevations and details.
- Develop 3D models and renderings for marketing materials and client presentations.
- Research and develop unique construction details specific to each project.
- Coordinate drawings and details with our installation and fabrication team.
- Lead client design meetings, both in person and via phone or Teams/Zoom.
- Support the design and construction teams with problem-solving and coordination.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of experience producing construction drawings in an architectural or design/build environment.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Architecture and SketchUp; familiarity with Enscape and/or Revit is a plus.
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—comfortable speaking with clients and contractors.
- Creative design sensibility with attention to detail.
- Strong time management and organizational skills; capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-sufficient and proactive, with the ability to lead a project from design through documentation.
Compensation & Benefits:

- Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 commensurate with experience and role responsibility.
