Contract Graphic Designer – Packaging
Location: Santa Cruz, CA (Mostly Remote)
Job Type: Contract | 5–20+ hours per week
Pay Range: $25-30+ / hour
Pure Velocity is seeking a Contract Graphic Designer to support private label sunscreen and skincare clients with packaging design and print production. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer with packaging experience who is comfortable working directly with clients and international print partners.
Responsibilities
- Design and update packaging artwork for sunscreen and skincare products
- Work directly with clients to develop and refine packaging designs
- Prepare accurate, print-ready files using provided dielines
- Coordinate with printers and packaging suppliers, often based in China
- Review proofs and ensure files meet production and print specifications
Requirements
- Graphic design experience with a focus on packaging design
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop
- Strong understanding of print production and file setup
- Excellent communication skills
- Availability to work with partners in the China time zone
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with personal care, cosmetic, or OTC product packaging
- Familiarity with regulatory labeling requirements for skincare or sunscreen products
Work Environment
- Mostly remote, contract work
- Flexible hours (5–20+ per week depending on workload)
- Occasional in-person meetings with the team in Santa Cruz, CA
Pay: $25.38 - $30.56 per hour
Expected hours: 5.0 – 20.0 per week
