Job Description:
The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso is pleased to invite applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in aerospace engineering and a tenure/tenure-track Associate/Full Professor for the Regents' Research Excellence Program starting Fall 2025. The department will consider applications in the general area of aerospace engineering, including but not limited to aircraft and spacecraft design, structural dynamics and aerodynamics, air mobility, directed energy (multiscale modelling and simulation), robotics and autonomy for space and aerial domains, GNC, and mission design. Still, applicants outside these areas are also encouraged to apply. Also, those hired at the Professor level will be given the title Regents' Distinguished Research Professor, and those hired at the Associate Professor level will be given that title upon promotion to the rank of Professor.
Job Requirements
Assistant professor:
- Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting fundamental and/or applied research.
- Established record of publications.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentoring.
Associate/Full professor: same as those for assistant professor, in addition to:
- Experience in securing extramural funding.
- Strong record of publications.
- Involvement in collaborating with industry or the Federal Laboratories.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring PhD students and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses.
Additional Information
The initial salary is competitive, based on qualifications and experience, and comes with excellent fringe benefits. Hiring decisions are based on budget approval.
