Jr. Production Support Database Administrator to support an enterprise client in
Cincinnati, OH.

Pay Rate: $30–$35/hour (based on experience)

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled
Jr. Production Support Database Administrator (DBA) with 3+ years of overall experience supporting enterprise database environments. This role focuses on providing 24x7 production support and operational management across a diverse set of database technologies in both on-premises and cloud environments.
The ideal candidate has hands-on expertise with MongoDB, Netezza, and IIAS, along with experience across additional database platforms including SQL Server, Oracle, Mainframe DB2, DB2 UDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, Informix, and CosmosDB. This individual will play a key role in ensuring database performance, reliability, security, and continuous improvement.
What you’ll do
- Provide 24x7 production support for one or more database technologies through rotational shifts and on-call coverage
- Administer, monitor, and maintain databases across on-premises and cloud (Azure, GCP) environments
- Implement and manage backup, recovery, performance tuning, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies
- Perform routine health checks and proactively identify and resolve performance issues
- Optimize queries and database configurations to improve system performance
- Manage database security, user access, and permissions in alignment with organizational policies
- Coordinate and execute database patching, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support deployments and resolve database-related issues
- Monitor and resolve incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and document resolutions
- Automate routine operational tasks using scripting and automation tools
- Maintain accurate documentation for database procedures, configurations, and support processes
- Support data warehouse environments and reporting workloads as needed
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 2+ years of DBA experience supporting SQL Server and/or Oracle environments
- 2+ years of DBA experience supporting Mainframe DB2 or IBM DB2 (LUW, z/OS, DB2 UDB)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with MongoDB, Netezza, IIAS, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, or CosmosDB
- Strong SQL scripting and database troubleshooting skills
- Experience automating operational tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, SQL, or shell scripting
- Knowledge of high availability, backup/recovery, and performance tuning techniques
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, or Nagios
- Familiarity with automation frameworks including Ansible and Terraform
- Solid understanding of database security best practices
- Experience with database patching, upgrades, and migrations
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production support environment
- Experience supporting database audits and license management
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Data warehouse DBA experience
Nice to have
- Relevant certifications (Azure Fundamentals, Azure DBA Associate, Oracle DBA, or equivalent)
- Experience with cloud-based database services in Azure or GCP
- Advanced automation experience using PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, or shell scripting
