OverviewWe are seeking a highly organized and detail-driven Design Assistant for a full-time, in-office role supporting the technical design process and product development in a fast-paced, SKU-intensive fashion environment. This is a permanent role for a candidate who is meticulous, proactive, and passionate about product development — ensuring fit, construction, and quality meet Alp N Rock’s standards.
This role works closely with the Technical Designer to support fittings, sample evaluations, vendor communication, and documentation. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume workflow while maintaining accuracy, clear communication, and strong follow-through. The role will also assist with the onboarding and adoption of Alp N Rock’s new PLM system, helping ensure accurate product data and smooth workflow implementation.
In addition, this position supports operational needs as required, including QC of incoming production and assisting the warehouse team with returns processing.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Design & Fit Support- Create spec sheets for fittings and new product development. Assist with measuring garments.
- Receive samples and prep them for fittings, ensuring correct organization and readiness.
- Evaluate samples to confirm previous fit and construction changes have been completed.
- Sit in on fittings and take clear, accurate, detailed notes and flat photos. Update the WIP as needed.
- Take measurements, record fit comments, and support the Technical Designer in developing vendor feedback.
- Review TOPs (Top of Production samples) and communicate fit and construction comments to vendors.
- Manage and track TOP comments and approvals, ensuring timely follow-up.
Sample Management & Organization- Maintain a clean, accurate, and highly organizedsample system.
- Keep samples labeled, tracked, and stored properly throughout the development process.
- Receive and log incoming samples
Documentation, PLM & Communication- Input images and detailed notes after each fitting in Excel compressing them to be emailed to vendors
- Assist with the onboarding and implementation of the PLM system, including data entry, organization, and supporting the team in adopting new workflows.
- Ensure product development documentation is accurate, updated, and accessible across systems.
- Utilize clear communication to distribute post-fitting notes and updates to all necessary parties.
- Maintain strong documentation habits to support accuracy across the product lifecycle.
Quality Control & Operational Support- Support QC of incoming production, checking product accuracy, construction, and overall quality against approved standards.
- Document QC findings and communicate issues to the appropriate internal teams.
- Assist the warehouse team with returns processing as needed, helping maintain organization and ensuring timely handling during peak periods.
Cross-Functional & Photoshoot Support- Assist with photo shoot planning, including sample coordination and ensuring all necessary styles are prepared.
- Prepare rep-kits as needed for sales, marketing, and internal team use.
- Attend photo shoots when required to support production needs, sample organization, and on-site assistance.
Additional Support- Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the design and development process.
Qualifications- Strong interest in the design and development process including technical design, garment construction, and fit.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accuracy and manage time with multiple priorities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced fashion business with a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to take clear notes, follow processes, and communicate effectively across teams and vendors.
- Strong organizational skills
- Solid Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) with comfort organizing and maintaining detailed information.
- Willingness to learn and support new systems, including PLM onboarding and adoption.
- A proactive, hands-on mindset with flexibility to support operational needs, including QC and returns processing.
- Positive team player with a strong work ethic and desire to grow and contribute to the overall success of the company
