We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Development Analyst to join our dynamic origination team. This role is central to identifying, researching, and engaging with founder-led and private equity-backed companies that may benefit from a sale or strategic transaction.
The ideal candidate is analytically strong, organized, resilient, and comfortable in a proactive, outbound business development environment. This position offers direct exposure to senior bankers, founders, and investors, along with a front-row seat to the early stages of sell-side M&A mandates.
Key Responsibilities
- Sell-Side Origination & Market Research: Identify and research privately held, founder-led, and sponsor-backed companies across GrowthPoint’s technology coverage areas that may be candidates for a sell-side M&A process. Develop industry landscapes, target lists, and company profiles to support mandate sourcing efforts.
- Outbound Outreach & Engagement Support: Assist in executing outbound origination initiatives, including drafting personalized email and LinkedIn outreach, preparing call materials, and supporting follow-up efforts. Help senior bankers engage founders and executives in early-stage conversations regarding strategic alternatives.
- Pipeline Management & CRM Ownership: Maintain ownership of CRM data integrity, including opportunity tracking, activity logging, and pipeline reporting. Monitor origination activity, follow-ups, and engagement progression to ensure consistent execution and visibility.
- Performance Tracking & Reporting: Track key business development metrics such as outreach activity, meetings scheduled, NDAs executed, and progress toward signed engagements. Prepare regular reports for senior leadership to support strategic planning and origination effectiveness.
- Founder & Client Interaction: Support communication with founders, executives, and other stakeholders with a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to confidentiality. Gain exposure to relationship management in a sell-side advisory context.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field with a strong academic record.
- 1–3 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, consulting, or business development; relevant internship experience is acceptable.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and corporate finance fundamentals.
- Exceptional research, analytical, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to tailor messaging to senior executives and founders.
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with databases such as 451 Group, Capital IQ, PitchBook, or SourceScrub preferred.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Interest in technology, growth-stage companies, and investment banking.
