Role Description
The Business Analyst in GM FP&A transforms complex data into clear, actionable insights that shape financial decisions across General Merchandise. Acting as the connective tissue between Finance, Planning, Merchandising, and Digital, this role ensures leadership has the visibility and clarity to act quickly. By blending analytics, storytelling, and cross-functional alignment, the Business Analyst protects profitability, drives transparency, and strengthens Kroger’s ability to compete with best-in-class retailers. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Portland, Oregon Metropolitan Area.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, automate, and maintain reporting dashboards (Excel, Power BI, Dodeca, etc.) that deliver a single source of truth across GM.
- Partner with FP&A leadership to deliver ad hoc analyses and deep dives on sales, margin, assortment productivity, inventory, trips, stores, and digital performance.
- Collaborate with Planning, Buying, Inventory, and Finance teams to reconcile reporting, ensuring data consistency across channels and categories.
- Translate complex data into clear visuals, narratives, and decision frameworks consumable by executives.
- Track and interpret business performance trends, flagging risks and opportunities with recommended actions.
- Create scalable reporting solutions that can be leveraged across multiple categories and divisions, not just one-off fixes.
- Uphold Kroger’s values of integrity, accountability, and inclusion by ensuring transparency in all reporting processes.
- Assist FP&A leadership in monthly reviews with each division to align on forecast accuracy, risks, and opportunities.
- Support annual budget alignment and seasonal aisle planning across divisions, ensuring inputs reconcile to enterprise targets.

Qualifications
- Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and forecasting
- Strong skills in business planning, budgeting, and performance management
- Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau
- Proficiency in ERP systems, financial software, and Microsoft Excel
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for team collaboration
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Preferred qualifications: MBA, CPA, or CFA, and experience in the retail industry
