What To Expect
The Quality Engineer, Castings, will work as a member of Tesla’s Quality organization. The primary objective of this role is to support the production of high-quality Giga Castings through the continual improvement of process and product quality and the systems that surround them. The successful candidate for this position must be a problem-solver at their core, have a strong quality & customer-focused mindset and risk assessment, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continual improvement.
What You'll Do
Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements; use of QA methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actionsEstablish and maintain quality performance metricsReview concerns with Design Engineering and perform risk assessment and continue to understand functions of castings geometry for vehicle load casesDevelop and implement quality standards as part of the Tesla Quality System to assure products meet expectations of our target customersSupport the development of product specifications and tolerances, design and process FMEAs and DVAsEstablish and maintain control plans and inspection standards to assure critical features are controlled through the assembly/production processesLead/facilitate review and disposition of discrepant materials identified for control of nonconforming productPromote and maintain a culture and attitude of continuous improvement, working within the Tesla team to make it more efficient, safer and an enjoyable place to work
What You'll Bring
3+Year Castings manufacturing experiences (automotive preferred)Specific training and demonstrated success in applying quality problem solving methods such as fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, etc.Thorough knowledge and understanding in GD&T and review CMM reportsExperience with broad variety of measurement and inspection techniquesExcellent oral, written and presentation communication skillsAbility, willingness to travel domestically, and internationally (5% to 10%)
