Company Description
We’re an early-stage hardware startup building next-generation smart eyewear. Backed by experienced leaders in the eyecare industry, we’re developing a compact, sensor-driven wearable engineered for real-world manufacturing. We’re targeting first production this summer and looking for a technical partner to help take it there.
What You’ll Do
- Architect and design compact multilayer PCBs integrating I2C/SPI sensors, BLE modules, power management ICs, and battery-powered systems for a wearable form factor
- Lead embedded firmware development (C/C++) on an RTOS-based system (e.g., Zephyr, FreeRTOS), including task architecture, power-state management, and BLE integration
- Solve low-power and space-constrained design challenges in ultra-compact electronics
- Own and drive the path from prototype to manufacturing readiness, including setting milestones and keeping timelines on track
- Work directly with the founders on product and technical direction, with the opportunity to join as a founding technical partner based on alignment and performance
Who This Is For
- You’ve built real hardware - not just academic projects
- You understand constraints of wearable electronics (size, power, thermals, RF, battery life, antenna performance)
- Strong fundamentals in circuit design, embedded systems, and battery-powered device architecture
- You operate independently and don’t wait for task-by-task direction
- You want meaningful equity and real ownership
- You value autonomy over rigid corporate structure and are comfortable building systems from scratch
Nice to Have
- Experience with DFM and contract manufacturers
- Experience with Altium, KiCad, or similar PCB design tools
- Ultra-low power optimization and sleep-mode architecture
- Experience shrinking boards to production size
- Prior startup or consumer electronics experience
Structure
- Begins part time with equity and stipend, with clear path to full time partner level role based on alignment and performance.
This role is for someone who wants to build, not observe.
