Isle is an independent creative technology company based in Boston, Massachusetts. We create venue-scale open-world mixed reality gaming playgrounds that blend escape room puzzles, physical challenges, and spatial AR, placing players in a live-action videogame.
Founded by a former member of Sony and current MBA student at Harvard Business School, with advisors across the LBE and immersive industries.
Isle OS
Isle OS is a mixed reality system that tracks players’ progress through our gaming playgrounds and adaptively offers them new quests and content to ensure a fun experience and manage throughput.
To demonstrate what is possible with the platform, we are building a short MR proof-of-concept to show to investors at our upcoming pitch day on the Harvard Business School campus.
About You
We are seeking a developer to build a 20-minute mixed reality (passthrough) multiplayer POC on Meta Quest 3 for 3-4 co-located players.
The experience takes place in a real room and includes shared environmental AR effects, player-specific clues, 3 cooperative puzzles, and a finale AR sequence triggered when a physical chest/box opens.
We’ll use ready-made assets where possible; priority is reliability + demo polish to get players excited about the possibilities of what an Isle experience can be.
Responsibilities:
- Set up Quest 3 MR project
- Implement multiplayer networking + shared spatial alignment
- Implement interactions that reliably use hand-tracking
- Sync shared game state while supporting per-player local clue layers
- Build puzzle progression (3 puzzles) + finale hardware trigger/AR effects
- Deliver Quest builds + basic documentation / operator checklist
Requirements:
- Ability to build the skeleton of the experience on-site for a minimum of 1-2 weeks in Boston, MA at the start of the contract, and additional availability to test and debug on-site from April 12 through April 21.
- Strong Unity/C#
- Meta Quest development, ideally utilizing passthrough/MR
- Multiplayer frameworks (Photon Fusion / Normcore / Unity NGO or similar)
- Familiarity with co-located XR alignment concepts (anchors / shared coordinate systems)
- Interest in iterating collaboratively on the creative content (puzzles, finale sequence) to ensure balance between functionality and visual polish.
- A portfolio of relevant MR/XR work.
Contract Details
- Duration: 6 weeks, flexible hours, start ASAP
- Location: Hybrid, with in-person component needed in Boston, MA
- Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Pay: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour
