Thomas Hill Garden Design specializes in fine gardening and year-round property care for a select group of clients in coastal Cumberland County, Maine. Our work focuses on detailed horticulture — thoughtful planting, precise pruning, seasonal planters, and the long-term stewardship of beautiful private gardens.
We operate small, professional crews and take pride in careful, detail-oriented work.
Important: We are a fine gardening company and do not offer mowing services.
We are currently seeking an experienced gardener to join our team and help maintain and develop the gardens of our clients.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed garden maintenance including pruning, deadheading, weeding, and soil care
- Install new plantings and assist with garden development projects
- Plant and maintain seasonal flowers, shrubs, and ornamental trees
- Assist with seasonal planter installations
- Identify plant health issues including pests, disease, and environmental stress
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order
- Work respectfully and professionally on high-end residential properties
- Communicate effectively with team members and occasionally with clients
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience in professional gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance strongly preferred
- Strong plant knowledge and understanding of proper plant care
- Attention to detail and pride in high-quality work
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small crew
- Professional demeanor when working on private residential properties
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions
