We work with real estate agents, property managers, developers, builders, architects, and designers to create media that helps properties stand out, attract more buyers, generate stronger marketing results, and ultimately sell or lease faster.
Our contractor network allows talented media professionals to fill open availability in their schedule with consistent project opportunities without needing to handle editing, marketing, advertising, or client acquisition themselves.
Position Overview
We are currently seeking experienced Matterport 3D Tour Technicians located in the San Diego area who already own and operate a Matterport Pro3 or Pro2 camera system.
This is a contract position where technicians are booked based on availability. Our scheduling system allows us to sync contractor calendars so when a client books a project we can schedule the technician directly during their available time slots.
This role is ideal for professionals who already provide real estate media services or are looking to fill unused availability in their schedule with straightforward scanning projects.
Technicians will be responsible for capturing high quality Matterport scans, uploading the scans, organizing the tour with proper labeling, and hosting the tour through their Matterport account.
Responsibilities
Perform on location Matterport scans of residential and commercial properties.
Capture complete interior coverage of the property, including all rooms, hallways, and accessible spaces.
Capture exterior scans surrounding the property to create a natural walkthrough experience.
Upload scans to the Matterport cloud system after the scan is complete.
Ensure scans are aligned properly and create smooth navigation throughout the tour.
Add title cards and room labels to organize the tour for easy navigation.
Provide the completed Matterport tour link to the HMBD production team once processing is complete.
Communicate with our production team if any issues arise during a scan.
Arrive on time and represent HMBD Real Estate Marketing professionally when interacting with agents, property owners, tenants, or residents.
Equipment Requirements
Applicants must own and operate one of the following:
Matterport Pro3 Camera
Matterport Pro2 Camera
Additional required equipment:
- Tripod compatible with Matterport cameras
- Reliable transportation to travel to properties
- Smartphone or tablet capable of running the Matterport Capture App
- High speed internet connection for uploading scans
Technicians must also maintain an active Matterport account capable of hosting scans.
Compensation
This is a 1099 contractor position.
Contractors are paid per project.
HMBD Real Estate Marketing handles all marketing, advertising, client acquisition, scheduling, payment processing, and customer support.
Because we generate and manage the projects, technicians receive 50 percent of the project fee.
We cover credit card processing fees, advertising costs, marketing expenses, and client management.
Payment is issued via direct deposit after each completed job.
Contractors are responsible for their own taxes and business expenses. No taxes will be withheld.
Matterport Scan Pay Structure
- 0 to 1000 sq ft
- Technician Pay:
- $100
- 1001 to 1500 sq ft
Technician Pay: $125

A 9000 sq ft property would pay:
$275 + $200 = $475 total technician pay
Scan Time Expectations
Matterport scanning is typically a straightforward capture process when performed efficiently. Experienced technicians should generally expect the following approximate scan times:
- 0 to 1500 sq ft
- Approximately 30 to 45 minutes
- 1500 to 3000 sq ft
Approximately 45 to 75 minutes
Approximately 60 to 90 minutesVaries depending on layout and complexityThese are general expectations based on industry norms. Larger homes, complex layouts, or properties requiring extensive exterior scans may take longer.
Technicians are expected to work efficiently while maintaining scan quality.
Matterport Capture Requirements
All Matterport scans must include both interior and exterior coverage to create a complete and natural walkthrough experience.
Technicians should scan the property in a way that allows viewers to experience the home as if they were physically walking through it.
This includes:
Exterior scans showing the full front of the home
Scan placement that allows viewers to walk up to the front entrance
Scan placement that allows viewers to enter through the front door
Full interior coverage of all rooms and hallways
Scan placement that allows viewers to walk through the entire home
Scan placement that allows viewers to exit through the back door
Exterior scans showing the backyard and rear of the property
The goal is to create a natural flow where viewers can enter through the front of the property, explore the entire home, and exit into the backyard, similar to a real showing.
Exterior scans should be spaced appropriately to allow smooth navigation while maintaining proper scan alignment.
Tour Organization & Navigation
All Matterport tours must be organized clearly so viewers can easily navigate the property.
Technicians are responsible for adding title cards and room labels throughout the tour.
Labels should include spaces such as:
Front Exterior
Entryway
Living Room
Kitchen
Dining Room
Primary Bedroom
Primary Bathroom
Guest Bedrooms
Bathrooms
Office
Laundry Room
Garage
Backyard
Patio
Balcony
Proper labeling ensures the tour is intuitive for buyers, agents, and marketing use.
Scan Hosting Requirements
Technicians will be responsible for uploading and hosting the Matterport scans through their Matterport account.
Once the scan is uploaded and processed, technicians will provide HMBD with:
Matterport tour link
Branded or unbranded tour links, when available
Embed codes if requested
The technician must ensure the scan is fully processed, functional, and ready for delivery before submitting the tour link.
Professional Standards
Technicians represent HMBD Real Estate Marketing when on location and should maintain a professional appearance and communication style.
Contractors are expected to:
Arrive on time for scheduled appointments
Communicate promptly with the production team if issues arise
Treat properties with care and respect
Follow any project specific instructions provided before the shoot
