Overview
Digital Venture is seeking a Strategic Communications Graphic Designer to support communications and public affairs initiatives for a federal client. This role focuses on producing high-quality visual communication products including reports, guides, presentations, social media graphics, and digital publications.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in typography, layout design, and Adobe Creative Suite, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment where multiple projects must be completed on deadline.
This position requires collaboration with communications professionals, editors, and leadership teams to translate complex information into clear and engaging visual formats.
Key Responsibilities
Design Production
- Produce professional visual communications for print and digital platforms
- Develop layouts for reports, guides, publications, and communication materials
- Execute projects using established templates and brand standards
- Prepare final production files for print and digital distribution
Digital and Social Media Design
- Create graphics and visual assets for social media and digital platforms
- Adapt designs for multiple formats and platform specifications
- Support communications campaigns with visual storytelling
Photography and Image Editing
- Capture photography for communications events and activities when needed
- Edit and prepare images using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
- Maintain consistent image quality and color standards
Collaboration and Workflow
- Work closely with communications staff and subject matter experts
- Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback
- Maintain organized files and follow established workflows
- Manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
Accessibility and Compliance
- Ensure digital materials meet Section 508 accessibility standards
- Apply accessibility best practices including contrast, alt text, and document structure
Required Skills and Qualifications
Design Skills
- Strong foundation in typography, layout design, and visual hierarchy
- Ability to translate written content into clear visual communication
- Experience designing for both print and digital formats
Software Proficiency
- Adobe InDesign
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Lightroom
Workflow and Organization
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and file organization
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Communication
- Clear communication with team members and stakeholders
- Ability to incorporate feedback and revisions efficiently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting government or public affairs communications
- Familiarity with Adobe After Effects or motion graphics
- Experience with PowerPoint or presentation design
- Knowledge of federal accessibility standards
