Internship - Accounting (Year-Round) - Fall 2026 Start
About the Role:
Baird's Corporate Accounting and Finance team provides accurate and timely financial information to aid in the management of the firm and support strategic decision-making. Finance has a track record of success with interns across their various teams, all of who have the ability to directly contribute to the success of the department. • Financial Reporting & Regulatory (1) - This team is critical to the continued financial success of the firm through their ability to provide accurate and timely reporting of Baird's financial results. The team ensures the firm financial results, activity, and data is recorded accurately in accordance with accounting, finance, and regulatory principles. The team is primarily responsible for managing the monthly financial close process to provide key financial information external parties and to firm senior management regarding the financial health of the firm.
• Baird Capital (1) - This team directly interfaces and supports the Baird Capital business unit, who makes venture capital, growth equity and private equity investments in strategically targeted sectors around the world. The team works closely with the Baird Capital Head of Finance as well as members of Baird's Legal, Compliance, Operations and Treasury teams. This is a highly visible and impactful team that contributes to multiple areas across the firm.
This intership is located onsite at our downtown Milwaukee office. The intern must be able to work full-time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week, and work part-time during the school semesters, 15-20 hours per week. We are seeking a local student who can start October/November 2026.
The Impact You'll Make:
• Assist with the monthly close process which may include journal entries, variance analysis, and reconciliations
• Compile financial information for internal and external reporting. May also assist in the budgeting process
• Prepare operational reports and presentations
• Maintain and document policies and procedures
• Perform special projects and other duties, as assigned
• Assist with training of other interns
What You'll Bring to Baird:
• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related business degree
• Anticipated graduation date of May 2028 or later
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities and meet specific deadlines
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and reliability with a drive for continuous improvement
• Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
