INTERIOR DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS INSTRUCTOR
Seeking a Part-time Interior Design Fundamentals Instructor for a Private Career School, to work under an independent contractor agreement. You must be able to prove eligibility (see below) and be approved by the Texas Workforce Commission prior to beginning instruction.

Our Current Instructor Opening is for the following course which starts in April, 2026:
Fundamentals of Interior Design Certificate Program – 3 Days Per Week
- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9am-4pm for 12 weeks.
- Principles & Elements of Design, Drawing Tools & Techniques, Construction Documents, Color Theory, Design Materials & Specification, Design History & Styles, Lighting, Design Process, Presentation & Critique Guidelines, Socially Responsible/Universal/Green Design, Architectural Terminology & Construction Teams, Professional Practice
- Combined residential and commercial interior design experience.
- Hand drawing and rendering skills required.
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare class materials and exercises around our approved curriculum to ensure student achievement of learning objectives as well as student engagement and satisfaction.
- Teach and lead each designated course session, providing guidance and assistance to students on all projects and assignments.
- Measure and grade student comprehension of all projects and assignments against learning objectives, using progress reports.
- Maintain and improve all current curriculum content, presentation, and instructional materials based on collaboration with the Executive Director and as measured by student performance, feedback, and direct observation.
- Administer and grade tests and quizzes, and provide leadership, feedback, and critique on student final project presentations.
- Work with the Executive Director to help ensure teaching strategies meet overall learning and business objectives.
- Stay current in relevant subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate.
Work Experience/Qualifications from the TWC for Colleges and Career Schools require that all instructors meet one of the following qualifications:
Master’s Degree or Higher which:
- Includes satisfactory completion of six semester credit hours or eight quarter credit hours in the subject to be taught; or
- Include satisfactory completion of three semester credit hours or four quarter credit hours in the subject area and one year of related practical experience within the last 10 years if the subject to be taught is in the technical field; or
- Includes satisfactory completion of three semester credit hours or four quarter credit hours in the subject area to be taught, if the subject to be taught is in a nontechnical field; or
- One year of related practical experience in the subject to be taught within the last 10 years if the subject to be taught is in a nontechnical field.
Bachelor’s Degree that:
- Includes nine semester credit hours or 12 quarter credit hours related to the subject to be taught; or
- Includes satisfactory completion of six semester credit hours or eight quarter credit hours in the subject to be taught and one year of related practical experience within the last 10 years, if the subject to be taught is in a technical field; or
- Includes satisfactory completion of three semester credit hours or four quarter credit hours in the subject area and one year of related practical experience within the last 10 years if the subject area to be taught is in a nontechnical field; or
- Two years of related practical experience in the last 10 years
Associate’s Degree that:
- Includes satisfactory completion of nine semester credit hours or 12 quarter credit hours in the subject to be taught and two years of related practical experience within the last 10 years; or
- Three years of related practical experience within the last 10 years.
Completion of a 900+ contact hour program (secondary education) that:
- includes a certificate of completion from a recognized post-secondary school in a relevant subject area AND four years of related practical experience within the last 10 years.
A secondary education AND five years of related practical experience within the last 10 years.
Job Type: Part-Time, Independent Contractor Agreement, Renewable each Trimester
Salary: Up to $17,160 per Trimester, renewable 3 Times Annually
