California Miramar University (CalMU) is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach Introduction to Java Programming. The ideal candidate brings industry experience in programming and software development, strong communication skills, and the ability to translate real-world concepts into engaging instruction that prepares students for practical application in the field.
Job Responsibilities
- Review pre-developed course materials created by subject matter experts and deliver clear and engaging instruction that connects course concepts to real world applications.
- Facilitate interactive learning experiences that encourage critical thinking, discussion, and practical application of course concepts.
- Use appropriate instructional technologies and learning platforms to support effective teaching and student engagement.
- Maintain regular communication with students and collaborate with academic leadership to support student success and course quality.
- Complete required faculty administrative responsibilities by established deadlines, including grading, providing feedback, tracking attendance, and responding to student inquiries.
Note: This Adjunct Faculty position will be teaching 8-week courses
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of teaching experience at the college or university level.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical instruction.
- Experience using learning management systems (LMS), Moodle is preferred.
- Experience using student information systems (SIS), Campus Vue is preferred.
- Commitment to student success and maintaining high academic standards.
Physical Demands/Environment:
Adjunct Faculty must be able to use a computer and understand the basics of web-based learning and teaching platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and/or Google Meets.
This position is part-time and may require evening availability to accommodate class schedules.

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
