Job Title: Engineering Support Specialist
Location: Mossville, IL (Onsite)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Flexible)
Overview
We are seeking a motivated engineering aide to support engineering teams working on advanced machine systems and hardware platforms. This role provides hands-on lab and technical support for engineering projects, including testing, fabrication, data analysis, and documentation.
This is a great opportunity to work closely with engineers on innovative technology projects while gaining exposure to real-world engineering development and validation processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support engineering projects by adapting and applying engineering techniques and conducting tests and inspections.
- Assist with environmental testing and validation of components and systems.
- Build wiring harnesses and perform light fabrication to support engineering drawings, schematics, and diagrams.
- Collect, analyze, and document test data and maintain control charts.
- Investigate field-return issues and assist with root cause analysis.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation summarizing findings and trends.
- Assist with cost tracking and preparing cost-benefit analyses.
- Maintain lab organization and support day-to-day operations of engineering programs.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Engineering Technology or a related technical field.
- 2+ years of relevant experience (internships accepted).
- Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and engineering documentation.
- Experience using hand tools for mechanical or electrical assembly/disassembly.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Organized and detail-oriented with a proactive work style.

Technical Skills (Preferred)
- Experience following or assisting with environmental test plans (thermal chambers, vibration tables, pressure vessels, etc.).
- Experience documenting test results in Microsoft Word or Excel.
- Light fabrication skills (sheet metal or similar).
- Experience with thermocouple instrumentation for electronic testing.
- Basic PCB SMT soldering experience or willingness to learn.
Soft Skills
- Highly organized in both lab and documentation practices.
- Self-starter who proactively seeks work when priorities shift.
- Ability to balance requests from multiple engineers and communicate priorities clearly.
