Coulson Autosport’s is expanding its design team and seeking an Automotive Designer to support high-end bespoke and limited-production vehicle programs in Huntington Beach, California.
This is an opportunity to work in a true build environment, where design is not confined to the studio. Our designers work closely with engineers, fabricators, and senior design leadership to bring vehicles from concept to reality.

Position Overview
The Automotive Designer – Bespoke & Custom Programs supports the development and execution of custom and limited-production vehicle programs. Working alongside senior design leadership and senior digital surfacing designers, this role contributes to exterior and interior concept development, surface exploration, and visualization.
This position assists in translating early design ideas into refined surfaces, renderings, and supporting digital assets that help guide engineering and fabrication teams during vehicle development.
This role is ideal for designers who want to grow within a hands-on, world-class custom automotive environment where design decisions directly influence the final vehicle.
How You’ll Contribute to the Team
- Develop exterior and interior concept studies exploring proportion, stance, and vehicle identity.
- Produce sketches, renderings, and visual studies to support design development.
- Assist in digital surface development and early-stage 3D modeling.
- Support the preparation of digital assets used for design reviews and program development.
- Work closely with senior designers to refine surface language and design details.
- Collaborate with engineers and fabrication teams during vehicle development and build phases.
- Assist in maintaining design intent throughout modeling, prototyping, and fabrication.
- Support presentations, concept exploration, and design documentation.
What You’ll Bring
- 2 to 6 years of automotive design experience
- A strong portfolio demonstrating proportion awareness, surface development, and design discipline.
- Proficiency with automotive design tools such as Alias, Blender, or equivalent surfacing software
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, CATIA, or other 3D CAD software is considered an asset.
- Understanding of how digital design translates into real-world fabrication.
- Ability to take direction while executing work with precision and attention to detail.
- Curiosity and eagerness to develop as a designer within a hands-on build environment.
- Strong collaboration skills when collaborating with designers, engineers, and fabricators.
