Position Overview:
The Business Analyst will play a critical role in supporting both the firm's principal activities and strategic growth initiatives. This position involves taking ownership of the firm’s asset data analysis, supporting billing needs, and performing due diligence to evaluate potential acquisition targets within the wealth and asset management industry. The analyst will work closely with senior management and cross-functional teams throughout the entire lifecycle of the assets under management.This position will be part of the Finance team at the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
Asset Performance Analytics:
- Assets: Analyze and monitor asset and portfolio performance by evaluating net flows, benchmark comparisons, and attribution metrics to identify key drivers of performance across portfolios, asset classes, etc.
- Reporting: Develop and maintain performance reporting and dashboards that provide clear insights into portfolio returns, asset allocation impacts, and investment trends for internal stakeholders.
- Verification: Validate and reconcile performance data across portfolio systems, custodial data feeds, and internal reporting tools to ensure the accuracy and consistency of asset metrics.
Advisory Client Billing:
- Billing: Support and perform the quarterly client billing process, including forecasting, fee generation and reconciliation, and communicating action items to advisor teams.
- Reporting: Build and maintain quarterly fee reports, client facing supplements, and enhance existing query outputs.
M&A:
- Financial Modeling & Valuation: Build and maintain detailed financial models, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable wealth managers, and precedent transactions analyses, to assess the value and potential impact of M&A transactions.
- Due Diligence: Coordinate and perform rigorous business, financial, operational, and compliance due diligence on potential targets, managing data rooms and working with external advisors and legal teams.
- Documentation & Presentations: Prepare client and internal presentations, pitch decks, information memoranda, and internal reports for the executive team and the board of directors.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Prior experience (3-4 years) as a Business analyst, responsible for asset data, portfolio reporting, or investment operations, preferably within the wealth management industry, is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- High-level solution design experience
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with CRM and pipeline management systems is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work comfortably with C-level executives and stakeholders.
- High level of motivation, a positive team-oriented attitude, and an ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
