DESCRIPTION
This Junior Designer [Jr. Designer] role is responsible for providing daily administrative, operation and creative support to both Creative and Operations teams depending on studio needs and assigned projects. As Jr. Designer, this role is designed to assist Creative Director, Technical Coordinator, Senior Designers, and Director of Operations with design and operation-related tasks.
Under the supervision of the Creative Director, this role will participate in all phases of the design process, including drafting interior design and architectural drawings, producing renderings, and coordinating with design vendors. The Jr. Designer will conceptualize and develop innovative and functional spaces that reflect Studio Rodrigo Buelvas’ aesthetic, meet customer needs, and align with construction capabilities. The role will also work closely with
engineers and manufacturers from concept through to construction. Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, this role will manage assigned tasks in accordance to operation
systems and procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Demonstrates an understanding of Interior and Architectural building materials and finishes, building systems,
specifications, applicable building codes, and detailing standards and construction techniques.
• Understands all phases of design including space planning, design concept development, design documentation,
construction documentation, shop drawings, F.F.&E., materials selection and specifications.
• Effectively communicates internally through timely and appropriate written, oral, and visual means.
• Applies analytical and conceptual design abilities to effectively move the design of a project forward.
• Manages time efficient and effectively to meet project deadlines and commitments.
• Assists both Design and Operations teams with note-taking, scheduling meetings, deadlines coordination.
• Assists in the selection of artwork and decorative accessories as needed.
• Coordination for all phases of design.
• Contractor bid package preparation and analysis.
• Contract review.
• Master schedule development.
• Permit process management.
• Procurement and logistics.
• Project analysis and plan review.
• Change order review.
• Organization and management of weekly meetings.
• Project and studio log management.
• Regular project reporting and task list tracking.
• Pre-&-Construction coordination.
• As-Built drawings review.
• City permitting and processing.
• Events outreach including among others, volunteering opportunities, partnerships, hosting.
• Marketing & PR including among others, social media, content creation, engagement, post boosting.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, or related field.
• 2-3 years of professional experience or relevant internship experience in a design studio environment.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, or similar drafting and modeling software.
• Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
• Experience with rendering tools including V-Ray, Enscape, Lumion, or similar.
• Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast-paced studio environment.
• Interest in multidisciplinary design spanning spaces, experiences, and objects.
• Full-time position based in Miami.
