Women’s Contemporary Designer RTW -– Fulltime
About the job:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Production Assistant to support the production and product development process for a Women’s Contemporary Designer RTW brand. This role works closely with the Production Director and cross-functional teams to help manage the lifecycle of a garment from development through bulk production and delivery.
The Production Assistant will support production timelines, costing, sample tracking, and production data management in RLM. Responsibilities include coordinating international sample shipments, maintaining production documentation, assisting with BOM updates and POs, and helping track costs and yields throughout development and bulk production. This role will also collaborate with Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Raw Materials, and external vendors to ensure clear communication and smooth workflow across teams.
The ideal candidate has experience in women’s contemporary apparel production, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Responsibilities:
· Create, maintain, track WIPS for 1st Fits through TOP’s; Support Production Director in maintaining T&A for on-time delivery.
· Responsible for costing (Flash costing @ initial design phase, Proto, SMS, Bulk to final cost in RLM)
· Support Director of PD & Production in evaluating cost components (raw materials, yield, trims, labor) to achieve margin goals.
· Ship and track intl packages (1st fits, 2nd fits, PPS, Sales/Ecom/PR Samples, TOPs) and maintain weekly incoming Fit List for Tech
· Attend Proto and SMS adoption Fittings to track BOM and costing updates.
· Update Production BOMs and assist with development BOM creation as needed
· Confirm & Approve Care & Content Labels
· Distribute UPCs to factories for bulk orders.
· Order, track & distribute Sales/Ecom/PR Samples
· Create and Update RLM PO’s with revised/final costing & changes to size breaks
· Own RLM seasonal data entry & updates.
· Support Director of Prod in resolution of bulk quality issues.
· Partner with PD/Raw Materials Manager to prepare and submit cuttings of fabric standards to the mills with bulk fabric PO’s.
· Assist with NY development & material sourcing (garment center) as needed.
· Work cross-functionally with Design / PD / Tech / Prod teams & Sales / Marketing / PR / social media /Ecom / Logistic / Finance / Accounting teams as needed.
Qualifications:
· Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field of study
· Experience: 1 - 2 years of relevant experience in Women’s RTW Product Development/Production
· Knowledge of fabric printing & weaving, garment construction & manufacturing processes a plus
· Computer Skills: Familiarity with RLM/PLM system, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Adobe Illustrator & Adobe Photoshop required.
· Clear & concise writing skills for vendor & factory communication.
· Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
· Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
Employment Type:
· Fulltime. Annual Salary range $60,000-68,000 with generous benefits package.
· Work type: In person in New York Office.
