Position Summary
The Project Manager is fully accountable for the successful execution of assigned projects from award through final delivery. This role owns scope, schedule, budget, margin performance, and client communication while leading a multidisciplinary engineering and design team.
The Project Manager ensures projects are delivered safely, profitably, and in alignment with HPF execution standards. This position requires strong commercial awareness, disciplined scope control, and proactive risk management.
This is not a coordination role. This is a project ownership role.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution
- Manage engineering consulting projects from contract award through final delivery
- Establish and maintain the project baseline, including scope, schedule, and budget
- Develop project execution plans including scope, schedule, and staffing
- Lead and hold multidisciplinary engineering and design teams accountable for deliverables, schedule, and quality
- Ensure project milestones and deliverables are completed on schedule
- Step in and support the team as needed to meet project commitments
Project Budget & Schedule Management
- Own project financial performance including budget, forecast, and margin
- Track labor hours, costs, and budget utilization against plan
- Maintain projected final cost and margin throughout the project lifecycle
- Monitor project schedules and identify potential risks or delays
- Coordinate with Project Controls for schedule and cost tracking
- Implement corrective actions when projects deviate from plan
- Protect project margin through disciplined execution and decision making
Scope & Change Management
- Maintain control of project scope against the established baseline
- Identify scope changes and lead development of change orders
- Ensure all changes are documented, evaluated, approved, and properly billed before execution
- Protect project margin through disciplined change management
Risk & Escalation
- Proactively identify risks to scope, schedule, budget, and quality
- Escalate material issues to leadership when projects deviate from plan
- Develop and implement mitigation and recovery plans
Client Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients
- Lead project kickoff meetings, status meetings, and progress reviews
- Communicate project updates, risks, and scope changes clearly and professionally
- Build and maintain strong client relationships while protecting HPF’s commercial interests
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams including engineers, designers, and technical staff
- Drive accountability and execution discipline across internal teams
- Coordinate engineering deliverables and technical reviews
- Maintain clear and consistent communication across all stakeholders
Project Closeout
- Ensure final deliverables meet contract requirements and client expectations
- Coordinate final billing and financial reconciliation to prevent AR delays
- Document lessons learned and project outcomes
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of experience managing engineering, Oil & Gas, EPC, industrial, or consulting projects
- Demonstrated experience owning project scope, schedule, and budgets
- Proven ability to manage project financial performance and protect margin
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in engineering consulting or EPC project environments
- Familiarity with engineering design workflows and deliverable schedules
- Experience managing client-facing technical projects
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Ability to work at a computer workstation for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed
- Valid driver’s license
