Civil Design Technician (10+ Years Experience)Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Civil Design Technician with 10+ years of hands-on experience supporting civil engineering projects from concept through construction. This individual will play a critical role in producing high-quality design documents, coordinating with engineers and project teams, and ensuring projects are delivered accurately and efficiently.
This position requires a detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise in civil site design, grading, drainage, and utility layouts, along with proficiency in industry-standard design software.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed civil design drawings and construction documents for projects including:
- Commercial developments
- Residential subdivisions
- Roadway and infrastructure projects
- Site development and land planning
- Develop and modify plans for:
- Grading and earthwork
- Stormwater drainage systems
- Water and sanitary sewer systems
- Erosion control and permitting plans
- Collaborate with civil engineers, project managers, and survey teams to ensure design accuracy and feasibility
- Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with cost estimates
- Ensure all plans comply with local, state, and federal regulations
- Coordinate with municipalities and utility providers as needed
- Review and redline drawings for accuracy and completeness
- Maintain organized project files and documentation
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in civil design or drafting
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and site development practices
- Proficiency in:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- AutoCAD
- (Preferred) MicroStation, Carlson, or similar software
- Experience with:
- Grading and drainage design
- Utility layout and profiles
- Stormwater management systems
- Ability to interpret engineering plans, surveys, and technical documents
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering technology, or related field
- Experience working with DOT standards and municipal design requirements
- Familiarity with permitting processes and regulatory approvals
- Experience mentoring junior designers or technicians
