Job Description:
As an Interior Design Assistant at Paulina Perrault Interiors, you will play a key support role across all phases of our projects. This position is ideal for an early-career design professional eager to grow within a high-end residential firm. This is an in-person, hands-on, detail-driven role requiring both creative and administrative support—from sourcing materials and managing samples to assisting with project coordination and documentation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable contributing wherever needed. This role offers meaningful exposure to the full design process, with opportunities for growth over time.
Essential Functions - Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support Designers: Assist throughout all phases of the design process, from concept development through installation, helping bring creative visions to life.
- Material and Product Selection: Organize and manage the design library; liaise with vendors and coordinate sample procurement for ongoing projects; manage vendor presentation meetings; research viable new vendor resources; and regularly visit the San Francisco Design Center to source new materials.
- Documentation: Prepare design presentations and vision boards to help designers visually communicate concepts to clients.
- Order Management: Maintain accurate project files and client records; assist with quotes and proposals; and coordinate with third-party expeditors to track orders, meet timelines, and ensure quality control.
- Operations Support: Assist with administrative tasks, including design meeting setup and breakdown, photoshoots, and installations; help maintain an organized and well-kept studio environment.
- Contribute to Firm Culture: Bring a positive, can-do attitude, strong attention to detail, a sense of humor, and a general curiosity and eagerness to learn.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field
- Early-career experience in interior design, preferably on high-end projects
- Solid understanding of materials, furnishings, and finishes
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proactive, collaborative, and curious
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
- Experience with AutoCAD and SketchUp (a bonus, not required)
- Personal vehicle (required)
- Ability to work on-site at our Sausalito studio five days per week
