Position Title: Electrical Engineer
Location: St. Charles, MO
Position Summary:
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the upfront electrical system planning, design, layout, and subsequent support of the installation and integration in a wide range of custom mobile solutions including trailers, truck bodies, and shelters/containers. This position will act as a liaison between the shop floor and engineering and will support the planning and development of new product designs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain continuous communication with engineering to ensure alignment of goals, objectives, and project issues.
- Maintain continuous communication and provide technical direction with the shop floor to maintain constant alignment with manufacturing.
- Develop electrical load calculations and power distribution documentation.
- Create block diagrams, schematics, and layouts based on input requirements.
- Support customer interactions including meetings, design reviews, and site visits, as needed.
- Assist in the development and standardization of electrical design practices, documentation, and processes.
- Design and support systems in compliance with all applicable safety standards, codes, and company policies.
- Promote a safety-first mindset by identifying potential hazards, supporting safe work practices, and partnering with the shop floor to ensure safe installation and operation of electrical systems.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- 2 – 4 years' experience designing AC and DC distribution systems for commercial modular or similar applications.
- 2 – 4 years shop manufacturing / construction experience.
- Proficiency in CAD / BIM tools such as Revit, AutoCAD or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 101.
- Proficiency in MSOffice applications.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Must demonstrate a consistent and stable work history, along with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 – 2 years custom truck, 5th wheel and/or drawbar, or RV design experience.
- NEC classroom training and certificate.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or working toward licensure.
- Ability to design and program PLC, HMI, and other types of electronic or electrical manufacturing equipment.
Physical Skills:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Required to stand, walk, and use hands.
- Must be able to position self to move, bend, and lift up to 75-lbs.
- Ascend/descend on ladders and move around /within custom mobile solutions.
- Required use of fingers and hands to operate a computer.
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must have the ability to hear and respond to auditory signals, distinguish tones and pitches in equipment, and use hearing protection during specific tasks.
- Ability to travel and manage projects at remote locations, as required (~3%).
