The position can be remote, hybrid, or on-site at one of our facilities with occasional travel (3-4x/yr) required.The Mechanical Engineer will support the design, development, integration, and testing of mechanical subsystems across a range of defense applications. Working under the guidance of the Lead Mechanical Engineer, this role is hands-on and execution-focused, contributing to the development of hardware solutions spanning structural, thermal, and manufacturing domains.
This individual will collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, and systems engineering, while supporting both internal development efforts and customer-driven programs. The role is ideal for an engineer looking to grow technical depth while gaining exposure to full lifecycle product development in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities- Support mechanical design, analysis, prototyping, and test activities for defense-related systems and subsystems
- Develop CAD models, drawings, and documentation in accordance with engineering standards and configuration control processes
- Assist in subsystem trade studies to support system and mission requirements
- Perform basic engineering analyses (structural, thermal, tolerance, etc.) with guidance from senior engineers
- Support integration efforts, including fit checks, assembly support, and troubleshooting during build and test
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical input to improve system performance and manufacturability
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to support fabrication, procurement, and testing activities
- Contribute to technical documentation including reports, procedures, and briefings
- Support proposal efforts through technical input, cost estimating, and solution development as needed
- Follow established engineering processes (PDP, CM, QA, CCB, etc.) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, development, or testing
- Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo (Pro-E), CATIA, or similar
- Familiarity with common mechanical engineering principles including structures, materials, thermal management, and manufacturing processes
- Exposure to GD&T, fabrication methods (CNC, sheet metal, additive), and assembly practices
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow into increasing levels of technical responsibility
Clearance Requirements Some positions will require access to U.S. National Security information. Positions that require this access will be required to receive and maintain a U.S. government personnel security clearance (PCL). In order to qualify for this position, the candidate must be a US Citizen and either currently possess this National Security eligibility or be able to complete the investigation application process with a favorable determination and maintain that eligibility throughout their employment.
