Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an UI/UX Designer (Journeyman) to support the MODES III program supporting Military Community and Family Policy (MC&FP). In this role, the selected candidate will design and deliver user centered interfaces and interaction patterns for the program web and application products (public facing and staff apps), supporting accessibility, usability, and performance requirements in coordination with development teams and analytics leads. This position is remote and requires an active Secret clearance.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver user centered interfaces and interaction patterns for MODES III web and application products (public facing and staff apps), supporting accessibility, usability, and performance requirements in coordination with development teams and analytics leads.
- Create wireframes, high fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, and component specifications for web and mobile screens; iterate designs based on usability testing and analytics.
- Conduct and support usability testing (moderated/unmoderated), capture user feedback, synthesize findings into actionable design changes, and validate improvements against acceptance criteria.
- Implement and enforce accessibility (Section 508/WCAG) and responsive/mobile first design standards; work with developers to ensure technical accessibility compliance.
- Produce and maintain UX artifacts: journey maps, personas, task flows, design pattern libraries, and component documentation to promote reuse and consistent branding.
- Collaborate with product managers, SDEL, developers, and analytics to translate user research and performance metrics into prioritized design backlog items and measurable UX KPIs for dashboards.
- Support rapid iteration in Agile sprints: deliver design assets to engineering in timeboxed cycles, participate in PI planning, and attend demos and retrospectives.
- Familiar with: Figma, Framer, Axure, Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision, design systems/components, interaction design, journey mapping/personas, usability testing (moderated/unmoderated), WCAG 2.x compliance, responsive/mobilefirst UI, HTML/CSS basics for handoff, stakeholder facilitation, Agile/PI planning participation.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree and 5 years relevant experience or 9 years with a HS degree.
- Certifications: This role requires a demonstration of capability within the Cyberspace IT workforce. Successful applicants must satisfy Foundational Qualification standards via an approved industry certification (e.g., A+ or Network+) or documented equivalent military/educational training as defined in the DoD 8140 Qualification Matrix.
- Active Secret clearance required.
Preferred Qualifictaions:
- Eligible for Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and iterative development practices.
- Experience with Section 508 accessibility compliance and WCAG standards.
- Proficiencywith Figma, Adobe XD, or similar design and prototyping tools.
- CompTIA Security+
Target Salary Range$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individuals experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
