Kingswood is hiring a Business Development Analyst to join our investment banking team in New York City. This is an entry point into M&A and finance for candidates who are serious about a career in the industry. Candidates with real sales and cold outreach experience are strongly encouraged to apply, regardless of a finance background.
Business Development Analysts are the first point of contact between Kingswood and the founders and owners of the businesses we serve. You will open real conversations about potential transactions and assist in generating deal flow for our senior team. Strong performers gain direct exposure to live transactions and build relationships with business owners, private equity investors, and lenders.
The role
Day-to-day role looks like outbound calls, disciplined pipeline management, and thoughtful research into the sectors and companies we are targeting. Over time, it means developing real relationships with business owners, sitting in on deal conversations, and taking on increasing responsibility as transactions move through the pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct high-volume outbound calls to business owners and founders, supplemented by email and LinkedIn outreach.
- Build and maintain target company lists using internal sourcing tools.
- Research target companies, sectors, and market dynamics to inform outreach and hold substantive conversations with potential clients.
- Qualify prospective opportunities and coordinate introductory meetings for the senior team.
- Maintain organized pipelines and track activity in the firm's CRM.
- Sit in on introductory calls with owners and take on progressively more of the conversation over time.
- Support the senior team through the early stages of deal execution.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; finance, business, economics, or related fields preferred.
- 0 to 2 years of professional experience.
- Genuine interest in finance, private equity, and deal-making.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable with high-volume cold outreach and speaking with senior business owners.
- Persistent, organized, and able to manage multiple outreach efforts simultaneously.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a desire to build a long-term career.
Preferred
- One or more years in a sales role with meaningful cold outreach: real estate brokerage, SaaS or tech sales (SDR or BDR), financial advisor recruiting, business development, or similar.
- Demonstrated track record of performance in a quota-driven or commission-based environment.
