JOB OBJECTIVE:
This position will support IR&D & CR&D projects in the Armor Development area.
- Maintains awareness of available ballistic materials, performance, and vendors.
- Provides armor material designs to meet customer specifications.
- Ensures designs have been developed per Integris Management Manual and Procedures.
- Authors product development plans (ENG-036).
- Takes an active role in supporting the Engineering Project Manager (EPM) in Preliminary Design Review (PDR) functions with technical assistance, data, and analysis.
- Coordinates test article builds for IR&D/CR&D projects, product certification and/or qualification, such as but not limited to, NIJ certifications for commercial products and First Article Testing (FAT) for military products, at external test laboratories and coordination of results.
- Summarizes ballistic development project efforts in detailed, written, and published reports.
This position will be responsible for supporting Sales and Business Development in the pursuit of new business for the company.
- Provide armor solutions meeting the performance requirements in the solicitation.
- Prepare proposal technical sections describing the proposed armor solution(s) and performance.
- Provide Bills of Materials (EBOM’s) of proposed armor solutions for pricing.
This position will be responsible for supporting production in problem solving and developing improvements to existing manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical support for the timely preparation of Failure Analysis and Corrective Action Reports (FACAR)
This position will be responsible for control of sensitive ballistic data.
- Obtain security clearance and safeguard classified information.
- Obtaining classified requirements for armor programs in support of Integris business.
The Armor Engineer will manage the R&D laboratory and technicians.
- R&D Technicians will support the R&D activities and report directly to the Armor Engineer.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Armor Engineer will be responsible for the following Essential Functions:
- Develop new armor products that are competitive – considering minimum weight and cost.
- Evaluate new materials and concepts for use in Integris armor products.
- Execute project plans – both internal R&D and customer funded.
- Creation of ideas on new designs and concepts.
- Initiate, coordinate, and plan the manufacturing and testing of ballistic samples.
- Enhance and optimize existing solutions and processes.
- Support sales with product data and solutions for customer requirements.
- Ensure that development activities are performed in accordance with the Integris-OH management manual.
- Comply with Special Security Agreement and supporting plans, policies, and procedures related to classified information.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
Targets specified within Project Proposal Documents will be the key objective. Additional business objectives and personal objectives will be set by manager during annual reviews or other appropriate times.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant Engineering field.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in armor development and project management.
- Defense industry and company experience.
- Experience in executing projects within the Life Cycle Management (LCM) process.
- Experience in utilization of Design-of-Experiments (DOE) in the development of armor.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
- Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
- Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Willing to ask for assistance when needed.
- Willing to learn different tasks.
- Basic Math Skills.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
