Mechanical Engineer – Consumable Fluidic Devices
We are developing a revolutionary, low-cost single-molecule DNA sequencer that can potentially improve the lives of people in a wide variety of ways, including timely screening for diseases and diagnosis of various cancers by fusing biological and integrated circuit technology.
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support development of consumable fluidic devices at Roche Santa Clara, with an educational and/or professional background in mechanical and/or process engineering. This candidate will be responsible for supporting consumable device components and surface chemistry teams in a variety of activities as needed.
Responsibilities
- Flowcell manufacturing, process development, and assembly
- Assist senior engineers with SolidWorks design
- Perform dimensional and mechanical measurements, including data analysis and reporting
- Conduct surface metrology and characterization
- Component testing, quality checks, and visual inspection
- Sample preparation for external analysis
- Manage component and subcomponent inventory; prepare shipments and receive materials
- Support multiple engineering activities in a timely manner to meet project needs
Qualifications and Skills
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution
- 0–2 years of professional experience required; hands-on lab experience preferred
- Knowledge or experience in microfabrication, microfluidics, or materials science is a plus
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, or equivalent tools required
- Familiarity with metrology or microscopy equipment is highly desirable.
