Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a Software Engineer position supporting cutting-edge space mission systems for the Space Force SDA GMI program. This opportunity offers a hybrid/remote work arrangement, with a contract length of 12-24 months with the possibility of going direct. The pay rate is $59.16 per hour. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field, with at least 2 years of experience in software development, preferably within mission-critical or DoD environments. There is no security clearance requirement for this role. The position is scheduled for first shift hours.
CLEARANCE: Clearance not required to start, but Secret and/or Top Secret clearance is highly preferred
In this role you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:
- Design, develop, deploy, and support mission-critical software systems for advanced space and defense programs
- Build and maintain APIs, backend services, and distributed applications using Python and Java
- Support DevOps pipelines, cloud deployments, and infrastructure automation initiatives
- Collaborate across software engineering, cybersecurity, DevOps, infrastructure, and operations teams
- Contribute to CI/CD workflows, GitOps automation, and system monitoring solutions
- Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards and secure software development best practices
- Support cloud-native deployments and scalable backend architectures
- Generate technical documentation and contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and collaborative engineering efforts
- Support innovation initiatives involving AI-assisted workflows and automation tools
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM discipline plus 2+ years of software engineering experience, OR a Master’s degree plus 6 months of relevant experience.
- Experience working in Agile development environments is required.
