Position Summary
The Business Intelligence Analyst II position is responsible for basic data querying, report creation, and dashboard maintenance. The role focuses on developing and distributing routine operational reports, assisting more senior analysts with data management tasks, and maintaining reporting tables.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Generate routine operational reports (daily, weekly, monthly) using SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and Excel.
- Update and maintain performance dashboards to reflect KPIs.
- Support basic data validation and data clean-up tasks to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Perform initial triage when dashboards fail to refresh or contain unexpected data, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Assist with gathering, formatting, and staging data for reporting under the guidance of more experienced analysts.
- Explore opportunities to automate recurring tasks (e.g., scheduling data refreshes, email distributions).
- Collaborate with various departments (e.g., IT, Finance) to address basic reporting needs and gather requirements.
- Assist with maintaining user access levels in BI platforms (assign viewer vs. editor permissions, etc.).
- Contribute to basic documentation of report logic and processes, ensuring clarity for future reference.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Three (3) years’ minimum experience in BI, data analytics, or related areas.
- Basic knowledge of writing queries, joins, and filtering data for reporting.
- Proficiency in pivot tables, lookups, and basic formulas for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to verify data accuracy, identify inconsistencies, and support data clean-up efforts.
- Ability to analyze basic data trends and discrepancies in reports.
- Troubleshooting skills to identify and escalate dashboard or data issues as needed.
- Strong attention to detail in maintaining reporting accuracy and performance metrics.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams (e.g., IT, Finance) to gather requirements and address reporting needs.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills to document reporting processes and findings.
- Willingness to learn from more experienced analysts and take guidance on data management.
- Ability to manage multiple recurring reports and dashboard updates with consistency.
- Basic documentation skills for tracking report logic, data sources, and access controls.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience).
Overtime required – as required on an as needed basis.
Travel 0-10% - as required on an as needed basis.
Must have reliable transportation and live within a commutable distance to one of the following cities: Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; Detroit, MI; Houston, TX; Phoenix, AZ.
Qualifications Preferred
- Exposure to Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms for report creation and dashboard maintenance.
- Familiarity with scheduling automated reports, email distributions, or data refresh processes.
- Understanding of user access management in BI platforms (e.g., assigning viewer/editor permissions).
