California Miramar University, CalMU, is seeking a Creative Marketing & Content Specialist to help strengthen and elevate the university’s visual brand across digital, social, web, email, and print channels.
This is a creative-first role for someone with strong visual taste, storytelling instincts, and an eye for modern content creation. The ideal candidate can create polished visuals, identify meaningful stories across student and campus life, and produce engaging content that supports brand awareness and enrollment growth.
We are looking for someone who can think creatively, not just execute tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and refinement of CalMU’s visual brand across social media, email, web, print, and campus materials
- Ensure all creative content is visually consistent, polished, and aligned with CalMU’s brand identity
- Create graphics, flyers, reels, short-form videos, email visuals, social media assets, landing page assets, and other digital and print materials
- Produce storytelling content highlighting students, campus life, academic programs, faculty, events, and university growth initiatives
- Help develop a recognizable brand voice and visual style through consistent creative execution
- Collaborate with the Marketing Ops Manager to translate marketing strategy and enrollment priorities into compelling creative content
- Partner with the Social Media Intern on content calendars, captions, posting cadence, and engagement
- Provide creative direction and support to the Social Media Intern
- Assist with website and landing page content updates
- Support email campaign creation and basic digital marketing execution
- Track engagement and content performance metrics to understand what resonates and refine creative direction
- Participate in occasional campus shoots, events, and off-site content capture
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Visual Media, Digital Media, Film, Journalism, or a related creative field preferred
- Equivalent demonstrated portfolio experience may substitute for degree field
- Approximately 1–3 years of experience in content creation, graphic design, social media, brand development, creative marketing, or digital content production preferred
- Strong internship, freelance, agency, client, or portfolio experience will also be considered
- Experience in higher education, creative agencies, lifestyle brands, consumer brands, content studios, social media marketing, video production, graphic design, or brand marketing is preferred but not required.
Required Skills
Strong portfolio demonstrating graphic design, social content, and ideally short-form video work
Experience with Canva, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, Premiere Rush, Premiere Pro, or similar tools
Strong understanding of typography, layout, color, composition, and visual branding
Ability to create content that feels polished, intentional, and emotionally connected to the audience
Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and native social content trends
Comfort updating website pages or landing pages in a CMS such as HubSpot, WordPress, Squarespace, or similar
Basic understanding of email marketing, SEO, and content performance tracking
Strong written communication skills, especially for captions, short-form copy, and storytelling content

Schedule
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Monday–Friday during standard business hours
- Occasional flexibility for campus events, content shoots, or field work
