Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Electrical Superintendent to join our team on a part-time, consulting basis. This role is ideal for retired professionals, industry veterans, or those seeking flexible engagement opportunities within the electrical construction sector. As an Electrical Superintendent, you will oversee electrical projects, ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to project schedules. Your expertise will help drive successful project execution while providing mentorship and leadership on-site. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and direct journeymen electricians, foremen, and subcontractors on active jobsites
- Coordinate daily field operations, manpower planning, and crew productivity
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and single-line diagrams
- Ensure full compliance with NEC (NFPA 70) and all applicable codes
- Manage low voltage (600V and below) and medium voltage (1kV–15kV) installations
- Coordinate inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems
- Serve as the primary field point of contact with the General Contractor, Project Manager, and Owner
- Track and manage material deliveries, tool inventory, and jobsite logistics
- Maintain accurate daily field reports, RFI logs, and as-built markups
- Enforce OSHA 29 CFR 1926 safety standards and company safety protocols
- Identify and proactively communicate schedule risks, scope issues, and field conflicts
- REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 15+ years of electrical construction field experience
- Proven experience as an Electrical Superintendent or General Foreman on projects valued at $4 M or more
- NJ Master Electrician License preferred; or Journeyman Electrician with extensive supervisory history
- Strong working knowledge of NEC (NFPA 70) — current and recent editions
- Experience with low voltage systems (600V and below) and medium voltage systems (1kV–15kV)
- Hands-on experience with switchgear, transformers, ATS, generators, and power distribution systems
- Ability to read, interpret, and mark up construction drawings and project specifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong communication skills with GC, owner, and inspection personnel
- Reliable transportation to project sites in NJ and/or PA
PREFERRED / BONUS EXPERIENCE
- Data center or mission-critical facility electrical construction
- NJ or PA prevailing wage / public works project experience
- Familiarity with PA Department of General Services (DGS) state government contracts
- Experience managing IBEW or union labor workforce
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar project management tools
- High voltage (above 5kV) cable pulling, splicing, and termination experience
- Knowledge of fire alarm, security, and low voltage ancillary systems
- Experience with MC cable, SER cable, conduit systems, cable tray, and bus duct
