We’re Hiring a New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer!
Shape the Future of Precision Sealing
At Pacific Rubber, we don’t just manufacture seals—we partner with R&D teams to turn complex ideas into reliable, scalable products. For over 40 years, we’ve supported industries where failure isn’t an option: semiconductor, medical, automotive, solar, and consumer electronics.
If you enjoy working at the intersection of design, manufacturing, and quality, and want to influence products before they hit production, this role was built for you.
Your Role: Where Design Becomes Reality
As an NPI Engineer, you’ll be embedded early in development—working alongside R&D to shape designs that are manufacturable, inspectable, and scalable from the start.
You are not just releasing parts.
You are helping engineers make better decisions sooner.
You’ll guide products from concept through launch, balancing technical risk, timelines, and real‑world manufacturing constraints—while building clarity and alignment across teams.
What You’ll Do
Early‑Stage R&D Partnership
- Partner with R&D and design engineers during concept and prototype phases to influence materials, tolerances, tooling strategy, and inspection approach
- Drive DFM/DFA discussions and surface manufacturability risks early—before they become costly
NPI Execution & Readiness
- Lead cross‑functional NPI planning using clear timelines, dependency tracking, and readiness criteria
- Ensure tooling, inspection methods, suppliers, and internal capabilities are aligned before launch
- Translate design intent into robust manufacturing and quality requirements
Risk & Decision Making
- Identify technical, quality, and scale‑up risks early using structured thinking (e.g., FMEAs, trade studies)
- Help teams determine what is “safe and sufficient” to move forward under ambiguity
- Escalate issues thoughtfully—protecting trust while maintaining momentum
Release & Systems Discipline (Once the Design Is Right)
- Ensure BOMs, routings, inspection requirements, and revisions are accurate before ERP release
- Support PLM/MES or structured tools that enable traceable, repeatable NPI execution
- Capture post‑launch learnings to improve future programs
What Success Looks Like
- Products launch with fewer surprises, less rework, and faster ramps
- R&D teams trust you as a technical thought partner, not just a gatekeeper
- Manufacturing and Quality are prepared before commitments are made
- You help Pacific Rubber maintain its reputation for precision in high‑stakes applications
What You Bring
- 3–7 years experience in NPI, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or quality engineering
- Hands‑on experience supporting products from early development through production
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, and inspection flows in high‑mix environments
- Ability to communicate technical risk clearly to both engineers and non‑technical partners
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or similar)
Bonus Points
- Experience with elastomers, rubber, polymers, or precision components
- Exposure to PLM/MES systems and structured release workflows
- Background in regulated or high‑reliability industries (medical, semiconductor, aerospace
What We Offer
- Salary: $85,000–$100,000 per year (based on skills, experience, and business needs)
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) with company matching
- 9 paid holidays plus paid time off
- Work-Life Balance Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
- Stable, full‑time employment in a safety‑focused, process‑driven environment
At Pacific Rubber, customer experience is engineered intentionally, thoughtfully, and together.
If you’re detail‑driven, customer‑focused, and want to work somewhere your expertise truly matters, we’d love to meet you. Apply today and help seal what matters most.
